    Marketing and Referrals Workshop

    It’s Crowded Out There!
How to Grow Your Census in a Competitive Market

    When: October 23, 2009 from 8:30 am -3:00 pm
    Where: Embassy Suites, Concord, NC

Speaker: Polly Rehnwall, Senior Manager with Simione Consultants LLC

In an increasingly competitive marketplace, it’s getting harder to get in the door and stand apart from other providers that are competing for the same Medicare dollar. One way to grow your census is to focus on what your referral partners need versus what you want to tell them. Most hospices want to educate referrers about hospice instead of focusing on what really matters: finding and meeting their customers’ needs. No one wants to be a used car salesman, but in reality that’s exactly what hospice reps have become. This program will help hospice marketing reps and liaisons with strategies to increase referrals from LTC, physicians and hospitals.

Then, after working so hard to get the referral, what happens? Many marketers are frustrated by the old intake model of “screen, demand, decide”. This program will discuss the new model of visiting all referrals regardless of circumstances, and with no burdens placed on referral sources. We’ll look at the advantages of a centralized referral model that can work for most hospices, even those that are smaller or more rural. And we’ll discuss some key strategies to help overcome the most common reasons for delayed or refused admissions.

This program is a must for any hospice that wants to make the phone ring more and convert those hard earned referrals into admissions. Attendees will get practical solutions that can help their hospice and palliative care programs improve their service to providers and grow their census.

After the workshop, participants will be able to:
    • Improve referral development strategies
    • Implement basic consultative selling skills
    • Develop more effective hospital liaisons
    • Increase response time to referrals
    • Improve conversion rate of referrals to admissions
