POLICY AND PROCEDURE FOR DISCIPLINE GROUPS

Members of specific hospice disciplines may wish to convene a group of peers for the purpose of networking and education. The Carolinas Center (TCC) recognizes the immense value of these groups and seeks to promote these opportunities. This policy clarifies the role of The Carolinas Center related to Discipline Groups (DGs) operating under TCC auspices.

Participation: Open to staff of The Carolinas Center Hospice Provider Members only.
Any discipline group operating under TCC auspices must be open to all hospice provider members of TCC

Definition: A Discipline Group is composed of individuals who share similar work responsibilities, job titles or professions related to one of the hospice interdisciplinary team components or other administrative functions of hospice management. The DGs are self-directed in terms of setting meeting schedules, locations, speaker arrangements and agenda.

The Carolinas Center's Responsibilities
  • Provision of meeting space at the NCHA or SCHA offices ( as available)
  • Notification of meetings via TCC Web site, other TCC communications, and email
  • Taking registrations and making meal arrangements (including collecting payment and issuing receipts)
  • Attendance at the meeting by TCC staff members as necessary and appropriate to provide educational programs and information
Discipline Group Responsibilities
  • Identification of leadership and contact responsibilities with TCC
  • Communication to TCC of meeting schedule, location, and agenda topics
  • Establishment of agenda and issuance of invitations to any outside speakers
  • Provision of funds as necessary for speaker honorarium honoraria or speaker travel expenses?
General Provisions
  • For groups wishing to meet by conference call, TCC will make and communicate arrangements for the call. The cost of the call will be the responsibility of individual participants.
  • TCC may invoice "no shows" for the meal fee plus an administrative charge unless the participants have cancelled their registrations with TCC at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.
  • The planning, funding and implementation of any additional meetings or educational events conducted by a discipline group will be the responsibility of the discipline group members. Any assistance needed from The Carolinas Center staff or resources will be itemized under an individual agreement between the group and TCC.
  • Discipline group meetings will be open to all provider members of The Carolinas Center and will not be open to non-members. Any questions from discipline group leadership about member status of any provider should be directed to TCC staff.
Policy revised and updated 06/05/07
